Hi my name Phil Harvey, I am Freelance graphic designer, artist, web designer, internet marketer and more.  I am establishing this website a resource for aspiring artists and designers as well as a showcase of some of my work.  This site is pretty new so there may not be a significant amount of resources here yet but check back as I will be adding more all the time.

What is Graphic Art and Design? While there are many definitions of graphic design it is basically a form of visual communication based on the skillful combination of pictures and text, usually used for commercial purposes.  As it is know today graphic design is relatively new discipline, the term was first used in the early 20^th century however the use and concept of using art and text to convey a massage dates back through the centuries from cave paintings to Rome’s Trajan’s Column and so on. 

Graphic art and design encompasses many Styles, effects and factors.  It is simple, one of the best examples of the power of a simple design is in logos, think of the Nike swoosh or the Abc logo.  The simplicity of logo design can be deceiving, try sitting down a quickly creating a simple logo that can convey a message as well as those mentioned and you’ll know what I mean.  It is also very complex, Think of a magazine, it takes skilled graphic designers to layout to combine the many elements of a magazine and in a useful and attractive way.
